What do people mean when they say "care home near me" and how does it apply in Tisbury, Wiltshire? In our experience, residents prefer to choose care homes near where they currently live; where close family members live or where they have lived in the past or would like to retire (for example, by the sea). In general, the first two of these are the most popular reasons as to why a particular area or care home is chosen.
Being close to loved one and friends is particulary important for care home residents who are likely to be more mobile and able to receive visitors than some nursing home residents. This makes it easier for family members and friends to pop in regularly rather than just for special occasions or at weekends. Being in a town or village setting can also help ensure the home is a buzz of activity, enabling residents to play a full part in the life of the home and the town or village.
The Albany House is based in the beautiful village of Tisbury, Wiltshire. There is a real sense of community and the village feel The Albany House belongs to them. We try and involve the community as much as possible, for example during Halloween and 'trick or treat'. This has been more complicated during the Covid period but are all hopeful the impending relaxation in restructions will be permanent. Individuals and their family members will again be asking themselves which care home near me should I choose and why?
